I have been trying to get the rsh-server started. I have modified the rsh file for it to run. I am told that it is necessary to issue the "rcxinetd restart" for it to start but it does not seem to exist on my system. I have also been told of the "/etc/init.d/xinetd restart" command which is also not working in my case. I wonder if rxcinetd is part of a package? -- Check the headers for your unsubscription address For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the archives at http://lists.suse.com Please read the FAQs: suse-linux-e-faq@suse.com

Hi David, This is a great example of using the package 'pin': carl@linux:~> pin rcxinetd grepping /var/lib/pin/ARCHIVES.gz ... please wait pin 0.34 - package info for rcxinetd ------------------------------------------------------------------ *** no rpm named rcxinetd installed ------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------ *** zgrep rcxinetd /var/lib/pin/ARCHIVES.gz ------------------------------------------------------------------ ./DVD1/suse/i586/xinetd-2.3.13-50.i586.rpm: lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 18 Sep 9 18:25 /usr/sbin/rcxinetd -> /etc/init.d/xinetd This says the file 'rcxinetd' is supplied by the package 'xinetd' which is located under /suse/i586/ on the installation DVD. Note: I'm booted into 10.0 right now, so your version will likely be different. hth & regards, Carl -- Check the headers for your unsubscription address For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the archives at http://lists.suse.com Please read the FAQs: suse-linux-e-faq@suse.com
