Hello, I created a Suse disk image a wrote it to a USB disk successfully and it does boot from Grub, but not without fist mounting the USB disk and modifying the Grub menu.1st and /etc/fstab. Is there a way have the USB drive detect its drive position upon boot up, e.g., /dev/sba or /dev/sbb, etc., and have the /etc/fstab modified accordingly? I imagine if I could have the USB initiate itself in the same fashion that the live Suse DVD does, that would be phenomenal. Any suggestions? Many thanks, James -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

If you build an image with Kiwi all this is handled for you automagically. Here is a good starting point. http://en.opensuse.org/Build_Service/KIWI/Cookbook You can also copy the mechanism used for the openSUSE 11.2 Live CD. THe 11.2 media are hybrid images and work from optical media or from USB stick. HTH, Robert
Many thanks,
James
