[opensuse] nvidia 177 beta drivers
After reading this thread, http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=115916&page=17 and realizing this is probably why my desktop 6600 is running circles around my Vostro 1700 8600M GT, I am now going to install the beta 177 driver. Is this driver available at a repo somewhere or do I need to install it from the NVIDIA site? I have those drivers installed and everything works better with options Option "OnDemandVBlankInterrupts" "True" in xorg.conf and by running, everytime x starts, the commands nvidia-settings -a InitialPixmapPlacement=2 -a GlyphCache=1 I use the autosart kde folder to do that. those are beta drivers you need to downloaded them at nvidia site. although things work MUCH better they are far from good so I've started to use the old Xgl server instead. And that is also my advise until nvidia fixes their drivers if you can survive without direct rendering (impossible if you play games in wine) and without programs that check for 3d aceleration, xgl+compiz is the better option they behave very well with kde4.1 the composite effects will be obtained from compiz instead of kde. to know more read http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=115916&page=17 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
