I finally decided to upgrade, I am thinking about getting an Athalon 750 MHZ and a Matrox G400 card. ( I'll also need a new style case) What brand motherboard and memory do you recomend? I can't afford the very best but want to upgrade to a good solid system that runs linux well. If anyone has recently gone throguuh this, would you please share your experiences? It has been a while since i did an upgrade and many things have changed. If you know of a good supplier - please let me know as well. I don't want to buy from any company that charges me for Microsoft products I don't use or want.

I found MSI boards to be the best quality/price ratio for me. For this kind of setup (Duron 700 and soon an T-Bird 1000 :) I use the MSI K7T Pro (MSI-6330). Joe, I'm in the process of the same thing. I decided to go with either a Abit KT7 or a Asus A7VWOA motherboard. I picked a Duron 700Mhz CPU, well... it was cheap enough at $62.00. The Abit goes for $135 and the Asus is $142. The case I was looking at is a Antec KS188. You can check out the specs and such at: http://www.motherboard.com (for all the above) I've bought a few things from them in the past and didn't have a problem, just a happy customer. Thanks, the site you listed is temporarly off line, I did find that http://www.amd.com has several pages dedicated to AMD approved hardware. I will try www.motherboard later, mayb e they will put it back on line soon. joe
