Johannes, Thanks for the info. I had many problems during the install of suse 10, had to re-install several times, and did not see any release notes addressing parallel port problems. I wish I had, would have saved me much time! One note. The above link suggested not using ECP/DMA for the parallel port. I tried using SPP and EPP with no success. Suse/Yast could not see the parallel port. Finally I tried changing my ECP/EPP DMA from 3 to 1 and it worked. I'm using an AMD Sempron system that was configured ECP/EPP DMA-3. Changing to ECP/EPP DMA-1 seemed to fix the problem. Matt
