I spoke too soon!
OK, I got the patches applied, but on recompiling the kernel, when I try to "make bzImage" I get a list of errors related to the mki patch - various symbols already defined. I do have the latest mki-adapter patch.
Any suggestions?
Thanks
David
Take a clean kernel, patch with MKI patch first and then the kernel patch. It should work just fine after that.
I'm afraid that the same thing happened. I'm using the latest SuSE 2.4.16
sources - should I really use a vanilla source (which presumably I would get
from www.kernel.org).
I applied the mki adapter patch first with no problem. When I applied the
kernel patch, the log gave errors saying that a previous patch was detected
(this was a clean kernel source). I tried compiling it anyway and again got
the same errors at the "make bzImage" stage - various messages relating to
multiple definitions of _kstrtab_sys_mprotect annd others.

As far as i know the suse specific kernel will not work with win4lin. you need to use the plain vanilla kernel. i did the following.. 1. installed the Restof the kernel rpm from the distribution 2. downloaded all relevant patches from linux.org 3. patched my vanilla kernel to make it to 2.4.16 4. applied win4lin patches including mki adapter patch 5. compiled the kernel and installed win4lin everythinbg is running fine good luck harry David Robertson wrote:
