Hi, hope this is not an old subject. I have a ASUS Pundit with the sis5513 and i cannot access the harddisk. It keeps reporting "ide failed opcode was: 0xef" and "invalid geometry: 0 phisical heads". I've tryed with 2 hds, this happend with both, but with windows both work perfect. Also used to have Suse 9.2 installed and worked fine. Can anyone help? Is this the old Pentium board? The SiS chipset of those times and the newer IDE code in the kernel (2.4.26 roundabout and onwards) doesn't mix well. If that's tot the board, ignore my post :-) Hans

HI I don't know if this is new or old, its ASUS P4S8L. If it is the old one, will a bios update work, or will i be stuck with an old kernel? Thanks for your time Jorge -- Using Opera's revolutionary e-mail client: http://www.opera.com/mail/

That sounds more like a Pentium4 board, I was referring to a Pentium classic relic.

No idea, it's worth a try. Hans
