Your problem is with the X.org X server (obviously). What video card are you using and what video driver? What else is running when your X cpu usage goes high? -----Original Message----- From: C. On the right sight of all 4 desktops I have gkrellm running. Out of the blue moon the cpu usage is sometimes as high as 99 to 100%. Looking into the htop I found what is using up to 82% of the cpu. But sorry, I have no idea how to tame this wild user. Htop says: /usr/X11R6/bin/X -br -nolisten tcp:0 vt7 -auth /var/lib/xdm/authdir/authfiles /A:0 -FtNPUe and that uses up to 82% of the cpu at times. It than even drops to 6.4%. Memory usage is a stable 7.7%. This process seems to run for some time if I read the htop info right. In red it states 34h in black 17:45. My system is for the moment up 4 days and 8:09 Have some blackouts and my UPS is not 100% anymore ;-(.
