To: SLE Please ignore the reference to the problem with the password in Thunderbird. My ISP's site has just posted an advice notice stating that there is problem with the e-mail service (will be repaired within next 3 hours).
However, the "Error in service module" is still present - and no rebooting will fix it :-( .
Cheers.
I did have a similar experience with Thunderbird, I started to report before I got this message. Strange coincidence, I doubt that your ISP is connected in any way with Bell South. However, I was unable to reproduce the error using CTRL-ALT-F3. Since I've never used it before, I did find that I need to learn how to return to graphic mode without using the poweroff command. I don't remember what version you're running, I'm on 10.1. -- ED --

From the graphical (i.e. X) use Ctl-Alt-F1 through F6 to go to a console. To go back to the graphical from a console, use Alt-F7. If you use Switch user, you may have more graphical desktops, next is F8, etc. F10 has an error console running (for viewing. HTH

Hmmm, I wonder if there was a hiccup in Echelon.

I'm using 10.1, and I have never, ever, had this happen to me. But now, of course, all this noise about the M$/Novell flap has pushed my problem into the background and I am not getting it resolved :-( . Re getting back from CTRL-ALT-F3. Do CTRL-ALT-F7, and you use the same if you initially go to C-A-F1 to F6 for example. Cheers. -- "I hope you leave here and walk out and say, 'What did he say?'" George W. Bush 27 August 2004

Basil, did you miss my reply to your first post on this? It's a PAM error; the only relevant URL I found is in that reply.

No, as you already know from my response and your reply to it. But this post of yours - and my original from which you quote above - only arrived here a few minutes ago, some 14 hours after being posted! Something is definitely going wacky with mail from this mail server or the route the mail travels. Cheers. -- "I hope you leave here and walk out and say, 'What did he say?'" George W. Occasionally there is a delay of up to an hour getting mail back here, never that long. That definitely is more than weird.
