sendmail 8.12.8 source compile
ive compiled sendmail 8.12.8 on suse 8.2 and everything works except the makemap command. it compiles fine, but when i try to run it i get euler:/etc/mail # makemap hash access < access makemap: Need to recompile with -DNEWDB for hash support i remember this happening to me on various suse 7.3 machines with sendmail-8.12.1 but i never got around it then. ive searched google and sendmail websites for info on this but get nowhere.

So stick "-DNEWDB" somewhere in the CFLAGS definition in your makefile and recompile (after a make clean or whatever to force recompilation). Paul.
that didnt work. i got the db source from sleepycat.com and compiled that and then redid sendmail and now its working. Paul Uiterlinden wrote:

Paul.
You must install the package db-devel and compile/install sendmail and in to
directory makemap...
