CDRom problem after installing Snd
--text follows this line-- In Suse pro 9.1, I installed Snd via Yast. Immediately after installation I could not open any media cdroms (audio or dvd). Error message is "could not enter folder /media/cdrom" In the command line I cannot mount the drive manually, the message is bad superblock. I have no problems with data cds. I uninstalled snd, again using yast, but the problem remains. Any suggestions? Thanks, Michael

Error message is "could not enter folder /media/cdrom" In the command line I cannot mount the drive manually, the message is bad superblock. Now, you can't mount audio-cds, for example. The haven't a filesystem. You can try it with the konqueror: audiocd:/ or play it directly with xmms, xine, mplayer or whatever.
I have no problems with data cds.
I uninstalled snd, again using yast, but the problem remains. hmm

You couldn't do that immediately before either, at least not with audio CDs. Audio CDs just aren't mountable. movie DVDs on the other hand should be. What is the exact error message when you try to mount manually, and what is the exact command you use?
Thanks for the suggestions. I noticed that the cdrom entries in my fstab file had been changed and so I changed them back and this seems to have solved the problem. Of course, I still can't mount the audio cdroms but that was just and overlay of my ignorance over the fstab problem. Or perhaps the ignorance was the problem to begin with? I'll try reinstalling snd. Thanks again for help. Michael
