[opensuse] Compiling an app from source has now changed?
I need Cinelerra for 12.3 but it's nowhere in sight so I downloaded the source code and am trying to compile it using the instructions in the package. However, when I try to use './configure' I get the one finger salute telling me that there is no such thing as ./configure. (Yes, I do have autoconf 'installed' in YaST.) Has something changed that makes it not possible now to compile from source? (I haven't compiled an app. for years but the instructions in the Cinelerra package are only a (?)year or so old.) Any advice appreciated. Maybe, you got the source from git repository. If so, do ./autogen.sh first. This produces configure script. Regards, --- ┏━━┓彡 Masaru Nomiya mail-to: nomiya @ galaxy.dti.ne.jp ┃\/彡 ┗━━┛ "Bill! Well, autoconf is only needed if you are going to regenerate the configure script..
Has something changed that makes it not possible now to compile from source?
First, ensure the package still uses autotools, if there is no configure script but configure.in or configure.ac run autoreconf -fiv. You may also need to install libtool, automake, pkg-config or who knows what else this software requires for that step to be successful. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Hi Basil, I tried downloading the source from the git repository and ran autoreconf -i --force This worked to create the ./configure file on a 12.2 system. ./configure complained about missing mandatory libraries which I was able to satisfy with yast2 except one: mjpegtools I tried a compile, but it failed looking for mjpegtools. I give up at this point, the rest is left as an exercise for the student. :-) Regards, Lew -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

I tried a compile, but it failed looking for mjpegtools.
Install mjpegtools-devel. Regards, --- ┏━━┓彡 Masaru Nomiya mail-to: nomiya @ galaxy.dti.ne.jp ┃\/彡 ┗━━┛ "Bill! You married with Computers. Not with Me!" "No..., with money." -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Good call, Masaru. yast2 didn't find it, but this worked: zypper install mjpegtools-devel It's compiling now, but I can't wait until it finishes. I'm going to bed, the Fetching Mrs Wolfgang awaits...
