[SuSE Linux] modem trouble
I have a USR56k pnp modem. I've had it work in the past under slackware, so i think it should work now (i have suse 5.3). In yast i set it up to ttyS2 (com 3). A link is created to dev/modem. When i try to query the modem in kppp, i get a message saying it is busy. I ran the pnpdump to get a isapnp.conf file, and ran isapnp on it, and it sees the card, but i don't know what to do from there. I tried looking for a howto, but couldn't find one and the isapnp docs aren't very helpful. - To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e
I've just recently installed 5.3 (newbie) and also have a 56k USR voice pnp. I haven't taken the time to install the dialup yet. In MS OS's the modem is assigned to com2. One would think that in Linux it would be on tty however I believe it is on the cua's. This is just a guess. If you get it function, please post (I'm naturally lazy;o) Henry -----Original Message----- From: owner-suse-linux-e@suse.com [<A HREF="mailto:owner-suse-linux-e@suse.com">mailto:owner-suse-linux-e@suse.com</A>] On Behalf Of John Assalone Sent: Wednesday, November 25, 1998 12:15 PM To: SuSe Mailing List Subject: [SuSE Linux] modem trouble I have a USR56k pnp modem. You probably have a stale modem lock in /var/lock --- check it out. Another possibility is the owner and permissions on ttyS2: crw-rw---- 1 root uucp 4, 66 Sep 7 02:05 /mnt/hda7/dev/ttyS2 You may have to add yourself to the uucp group. - To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e
