I have an HP scanner (ScanJet IIc) which shows up in my boot log as follows:
<4> Vendor: HP Model: C1750A Rev: 3125 <4> Type: Processor ANSI SCSI revision: 01 <4>Detected scsi generic sgc at scsi0, channel 0, id 3, lun 0
/etc/sane.d/hp.conf contains:
scsi HP /dev/sg2
(but I also tried sg0, sg1, sg3 and sg4; all /dev/sg* are crwxrwxrwx. Under SuSE-Linux-5.3 I used to run my scanner on /dev/sgc, but after installation of 6.0 I don't see no /dev/sg[a-z] anymore )
and /etc/sane.d/dll.conf:
hp
My problem now is that scanimage says that it does not find a SANE device:
scanimage: no SANE devices found
Who can help me out?
I am having a similar problem with my ScanJet 5p. Xscanimage will not find the scanner.
I have temporally solved the problem with this command line argument: "xscanimage scsi hp:/dev/sg0."
With this, it works fine. You may substitute "/dev/sg0" with "/dev/scanner" if you have made the symlink.
I have not been able get this to work as a plug-in in GIMP. I have experienced this problem only with 6.0.
I didn't have it under 5.3. If anyone has a better or more complete solution please let me know.
