Has anynone experience in getting a Logitech webcam working with SuSE 9.0? I have a "Logitech Quickcam Pro 4000" which should work with Linux: http://www.smcc.demon.nl/webcam/ When inserted in USB port, SuSE 9.0 recognizes the camera (write is model name in YaSYs hardware overview), and provides a icon on the desktop that opens GnomeMeeting. But then what? Don't know if SuSE allready has the driver for my camera. -j -- Linux install party in La Paz, Bolivia http://weblog.janus.dk/archives/2002/10/19/000184.html

I use the 3000, which works great Run /sbin/lsmod to see if the pwc module is loaded, if it is, then it's got the right driver loaded :) You can get the full range of resolutions supported by the camera by adding the pwcx module from that site. -- James Ogley, Webmaster, Rubber Turnip james@rubberturnip.org.uk http://www.rubberturnip.org.uk Jabber: riggwelter@myjabber.net Using Free Software since 1994, running GNU/Linux (SuSE 9.0) GNOME updates for SuSE: http://www.usr-local-bin.org

Sounds good. Looking forward to playing with it. :-)

Then you're somewhat limited, details of what's provided by pwcx are on the website. -- James Ogley, Webmaster, Rubber Turnip james@rubberturnip.org.uk http://www.rubberturnip.org.uk Jabber: riggwelter@myjabber.net Using Free Software since 1994, running GNU/Linux (SuSE 9.0) GNOME updates for SuSE: http://www.usr-local-bin.org
Sorry to jump in here, but I'm really interested how this turns out. I have a Logitech quickcam messenger that I've been using on my PC laptop. I'd love to use it with GnomeMeeting. James - will GM work with MSN Messenger? I share with my brother and parents and this would be great if it works!! Tom On Thu, 2004-01-15 at 05:59, Janus Sandsgaard wrote:

I don't know about "messenger" but the quickcam zoom works very nicely, both in gnomemeeting and other programs
will GM work with MSN Messenger?
According to the web site they use the same protocol so it should work, but not having any windows-using friends I haven't tested it
