The kdmrc generated doesn't match the version of kdm installed. Probably a case of YABITSKR
Apr 10 11:04:24 linux /etc/hotplug/net.agent[738]: No HW description found ... exiting
the hotplug code couldn't find a hotpluggable network card and therefore it exited.

The bttv module (driver for Hauppauge tv cards) loaded and tried to load char-major-81. Check /etc/modules.conf to see which module this really is, but it's probably videodev. It failed. Do you have a tv card?

You haven't set a driver for a USB serial converter. If you don't have one, you can turn off this error message by inserting the line alias char-major-188 off in /etc/modules.conf and running "depmod -a" Anders

Something I just made up. It's not important. But if kdm works, it doesn't hurt anything, so I would just ignore that error. If you really want it gone, edit /opt/kde3/share/config/kdm/kdmrc and delete (or comment out) the secion [Desktop0].
