Not able to get to ftp.suse.com, I went to ftp.leo.org and downloaded the relevant files for KOffice. I installed KOffice and then called the various components up successfully. I looked at Help ->about KOffice Workspace and saw: "KOffice Workspace 1.3.5 using KDE 3.3.2 level "a" SUSE 9.2 UNSUPPORTED. What does that mean? What does that mean in terms of future use of KOffice under SuSE 9.2? Thanks dj tuchler

Did you install koffice from a non-SuSE rpm package? What are the results of: rpm -qi koffice Just guessing, I would say that you installed a non-SuSE rpm, ie: unsupported by SuSE. To maintain the integrity of your system, you should *only* install rpms build for your SuSE system/version, or rebuilt via src rpms on or for your system, or on your system via checkinstall. Hint: apt4rpm will do/solve/resolve most of this for you automagically. running Koffice Workspace 1.3.5 (Using KDE 3.3.91) (beta1) Level "a" unofficial build of SUSE). -- Patrick Shanahan Registered Linux User #207535 http://wahoo.no-ip.org @ http://counter.li.org HOG # US1244711 Photo Album: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/photos

What does that mean? What does that mean in terms of future use of KOffice under SuSE 9.2? That just means you installed an upgraded KDE release for which SuSE may supply the rpms (for testing. feedback, good will, etc. reasons), but since they are not a part of the official release, that version is not supported. It has nothing to do with any particular problem with koffice and SuSE. -- Joe Morris New Tribes Mission Email Address: Joe_Morris@ntm.org Registered Linux user 231871

Yeah, completely correct. As the above line says: you installed rpms originated from SUSE's supplementary KDE-update. They are provided, but not supported; usage of such packages just for your own responsibility. I was also surprised after intalling their "KDE 3.3.1 Level (a)" to my 9.1. This wording is not so new, probably already 3.3.0 had a similar name... Pelibali
