how to ignore an update?
Hi Is it possible to configure YOU to ignore a package update? I don`t want to upgrade my kernel so I always get the red icon and never know if there are other updates. Thanks Gustavo

Hi, I had the same question the other days. I was reading a tutorial on YOU...and it was telling "if it's green you have no update...if it's red..etc". I always have it red since there are updates which I don't want to install. Therefore I need to check every day to see if there are new ones...because the "icon color" feauture is useless (in this scenario). I really don't know if SuSE is aware of this or is there any work-around? Suggestions are welcome :) Jorge

remove /etc/cron.d/yas2-online-update add to root's crontab MAILTO=<your-user-name> 15 2 * * * /usr/bin/online_update -s and you will receive an email each day telling you what patches are available and your icon color should not change to red. -- Patrick Shanahan Registered Linux User #207535 http://wahoo.no-ip.org @ http://counter.li.org HOG # US1244711 Photo Album: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/photos

I can't verify this because right now I have all critical (Or maybe I should say "non-optional as defined by SuSE") updates installed, but it looks to me like you can right-click on the checkbox and Choose "Taboo -- Never Install".
Hello JW, Errhmm that sounds good. I'll try it and I'll post the result. Thanks for the suggestion. Jorge

Hello JW, Yes, that worked! Thanks a lot! I can't believe the answer was in my face all the time! By selecting "Taboo..never install" (and assuming you install the other updates) the SuSE Watcher icon is now green. I manually right-click it and select "Check for updates" and it stays green since there are no new updates (and the updates I didn't install are marked as Taboo). Thanks a million! Jorge
