Are preparing for a functioning 12.2 beta1 and would like to transfer my KMail2 data and settings to 12.2. Had a look at the import function but lost my way. For KMail it mentions "Import KMail Maildirs and Folders structure" Where can I find the KMail2 from the 12.1? With the old KMail it was very easy but with the new KMail2 it is mainly guesswork. Is there some manual or wiki for such a transfer? -- Linux User 183145 using KDE4 on a Pentium IV , powered by openSUSE 12.2 Beta 1 (i586) Kernel: 3.4.0-2-default KDE Development Platform: 4.8.3 (4.8.3)) 13:43pm up 0:10, 3 users, load average: 1.38, 1.52, 1.10 -- Linux User 183145 using KDE4 on a Pentium IV , powered by openSUSE 12.1 (i586) Kernel: 3.4.0-26-desktop KDE Development Platform: 4.8.3 (4.8.3) "release 504") 16:43pm up 0:12, 3 users, load average: 1.37, 2.40, 1.97 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

You have a working evolution on 12.1? Mine stopped working a month or so ago. I have been using Thunderbird while waiting for evolution to revive. I would like evolution again. Do you have any GNOME update repositories enabled? The machine in question is one I use just for seeing what happens when I use the current release of things in OBS. Not factory. But stable repos that can contain things that are newer than in the distro. I suspect some update there caused a problem. The odd thing is that when I start evolution from the command line I do not get a complaint. Just a shiny new prompt. As I suspected. I guess some repo update has caused a problem. I usually wait a bit before 'complaining' and the issues are usually noted and corrected. Usually it is a matter of some other component in OBS also being updated. But this one has been a couple weeks. So I need to take a closer look. The up side is it gets me to explore other mail readers that I might not have otherwise done.

Not running. I only tried the command line because when I clicked in the ICON I only got a bouncing ICON show. Fun if I was a cat... The sources for older better versions do exist online. In Ubuntu 10.4 Evolution 2.28 works and still uses mbox format. Now its something called XDG and everything seems scattered to the winds. Just wish it could be a reader for MS Mail. Our company uses the latest MS protocol (can never remember what it is called), and have disabled pop and the owa interface. I have to use my browser to access the company mail system. Unless I go totally mad and use Windows... Only my Mac at home has this sorted. Massive, yes. The improvements are coming fast and furious in the very latest builds. Check out evolution-list@ and evolution-hackers@ lists; there is some really exciting stuff. Account management, HTML messages, improved composer, just lots of great stuff coming down. Just discovered that I already have powerful new template support <https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=641845> - still have to try that out. Sorry, I don't know anything about exchange connectivity. Other than what I read - which is that it is a bit messy with three different backends. There has been chatter on evolution-hackers@ about this in the last few days. <https://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/evolution-list> <https://mail.gnome.org/archives/evolution-list/> <https://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/evolution-hackers> <https://mail.gnome.org/archives/evolution-hackers/> Specifically some stuff on evolution-exchange <https://mail.gnome.org/archives/evolution-hackers/2012-June/msg00000.html>

"something called XDG"... seriously? It is much improved and that "something" is a standard for applications storing data. I wouldn't go back to 2.2x for anything.

For the inconvience I will not downgrade to Evolution 3.x for anything. Mbox is the format of my archives so that I will use the rest is junk. CWSIV -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
