Hi, -----Original Message----- From: Syeh Abidin [SMTP:Syehabidin@Telkom.net] Sent: Wednesday, May 03, 2000 8:24 AM
Hi, I have find all my configuration file to make my computer (ATX) can power off in Halt But I know now the problem, The Kernel has no APM Support.. I know it in #make menuconfig, no check box in APM (advanced power management) and in Power Off too.. in /proc there is no file apm, this mean has no APM Support
Does anybody know how to compile it to produce file apm in /proc ?? Your help is very needed, My COmpuer still can't poweroff..
If linux is shutdown you should be able to turn off the power by holding the power button down (about 5 or 6 seconds). Usually this is configurable in the bios so you should have the option to change it to power off without the delay. As far as apm goes, the best I can do is recommend that you install the apm kernel from the CD (depending on which version you have) since I haven't played with apm or looked at the options carefully enough to guide you. Thanks For the SuSE Maker, why don't make kernel after instalation with APM support.. ?? most of new computer now with APM Support, user must recompile it..and this difficult one. Any User of SuSE 6.4 or 6.3 is the kernel already support APM without recomple it ?? That should have said for 6.4 SuSE. I don't think the apm supporting kernel was available in 6.3 or less.

I'm assuming 6.4. If you using yast1 then its under System Admin, Kernel and boot configuration, Select boot kernel. If your using Yast2 I'm not sure because I still use Yast1. During the install no matter whether you used yast1 or yast2 it had to give you a choice of boot kernels. But then again I still use yast1 so what I say about yast2 may be incorrect. Be sure to run lilo after installing a new one.
