I'm running no sunrpc-based services, so I have no need to run the portmapper service. However, yast2's runlevel editor insists on enabling it, just because I'm running inetd. How can I fix this? System is SuSE 8.0 on intel. -- Rick Green "They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety." -Benjamin Franklin

Rick, Have you tried insserv -r /etc/init.d/portmap? If that still fail rm the links in the runlevel, i.e., /etc/rc.d/rcX.d/ -- _ _ __ _____ _____ ___| |_ | '__| / __\ \ /\ / / _ \/ _ \ __| -o) | | _ \__ \\ V V / __/ __/ |_ /\\ |_|(_) |___/ \_/\_/ \___|\___|\__|_\_v rsweet@garagenetworks.net "there's no love in fear."
