[opensuse] xsession-errors
Hi list, $HOME/.xsession-errors used to be the place where messages from the DE ended up (especially also of failed menue commands). However, it's no longer there :o Where do such messages go now? -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Yes, same here, on my laptop (installed 2016-08) On a machine installed this winter it doesn't exist at all. I see a mention of the file in /etc/X11/xdm/Xsession, so maybe it depends on the displaymanager used. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

I have ~/.xsession-errors on 423 (xfce) but it's empty. Messages are instead being directed to ~/.xsession-errors-:0 which is live. Mostly gtk related messages and if you run xfce4-taskmanager it will give you an entry like: "xfce4-taskmanager-Message: Running as [my username] on msb6dell.[my domain].com". Not sure if this file survives a reboot. Ralph -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

I'm seeing error messages of programs started via the desktop (Xfce in my case) in the systemd journal. Try journalctl --boot --user as yourself (not root).
