xwindows word processor recommendations
Hi: I'm looking for a nice word processor which operates under xwindows and supports microsoft *.doc and *.rtf files. Any recommendations? Our organization is fed up with microsoft - we are running a test platform under xwindows and we love it. No more crashes no more blue screen dirty looks ;) Cheers Joe Baptista -- Planet Communications & Computing Facility a division of The dot.GOD Registry, Limited

Definitely try OpenOffice.org (www.openoffice.org, surprise surprise). -Nick
try crossover office and you can use microsofts office package if you want. From what I've read it works well. On Mon, 30 Sep 2002, Nick LeRoy wrote:

I concur 100%. Open Office also runs under Windows, so you can install it on both your Linux as well as Windows machines. I have it installed as my default on my Windows2000 system at work as well as my Linux systems. On 30 Sep 2002 at 21:38, jaakko tamminen wrote:

It's also worth checking out AbiWord (www.abiword.org SuSE RPMs from www.usr-local-bin.org) AbiWord's a lot lighter in terms of resources required than OO.o. The current version 1.0.x doesn't support tables, but the next version 1.2.x is under development, and it will, and it's looking really good.

You get a bit more like a spellchecker and other such things. If you can't afford the cash..then OpenOffice rocks. :) -- Ben Rosenberg ---===---===---===--- mailto:ben@whack.org Tell me what you believe.. I tell you what you should see.
