Hi theree, I'm installing SuSE 9.3 on a dual PII (2 * 512MB) but during installation there is only one cpu visible. Is installation always single cpu? Do I have to recompile the kernel with SMP support? -- Kind regards, Peter M. Groen _____________________________________________________________________ Once again, we come to the Holiday Season, a deeply religious time that each of us observes, in his own way, by going to the mall of his choice. In the old days, it was not called the Holiday Season; the Christians called it "Christmas" and went to church; the Jews called it "Hanukka" and went to synagogue; the atheists went to parties and drank. People passing each other on the street would say "Merry Christmas!" or "Happy Hanukka!" or (to the atheists) "Look out for the wall!" -- Dave Barry, "Christmas Shopping: A Survivor's Guide"

Ok. Seems like the installer already answered my question. Sorry for bothering you (And triggering the OOO-replies :) ) -- Kind regards, Peter M. But it is equally important to accept and tolerate different standards of courtesy, not expecting everyone else to adapt to one's own preferences. Only then can we hope to restore the insult to its proper social function of expressing true distaste. -- Judith Martin, "Miss Manners' Guide to Excruciatingly Correct Behavior"

And just for my 2 cents: You virtually NEVER have to recompile the kernel for anything but Experimental/Developmental purposes these days. Its a task I don't miss at all. -- _____________________________________ John Andersen

You have a SMP version of the kernel on SuSE's CDs/DVDs. Just run yast and force to reinstall the kernel and nongpl part of the kernel. -- Marek Chlopek
