Re: [SLE] Linux Install on Conmpaq Proliant 5000 Server
Hi David, Hi Steve,
Yes you need either the K or M to specify kilo or mega bytes. Not sure what the default is.
Thnaks Steve that worked :-)
Try using the LILO option mem=512M at the LILO prompt from the install CD, I have found that certainly on Proliant 2500's it fails to correctly ascertain the correct size and assumes you have only 16MB of RAM, I did get it to install but it was painful and took all day!!. With the correct memory size it runs quite well and found the Smart Array Controller. You should first of all configure the array from the SmartStart CD, and then install the Compaq diagnostics partition, this is optional, but recommended.
OK ... advice time :-) What do you (& others) recommend I put on the server (Bearing in mind I'm using the Pro not Serveer edition)? James James C. Rocks Equant Archway House Canary Wharf London E14 9SZ Phone: 0207-5226856 Fax: 0207-5126087 Mobile Phone: 07771-767405 http://www.equant.com
Erm, one would presume that if you were going to the trouble of putting SuSE onto a Proliant 5000, you might already have planned out what you will be doing with it in the way of services. If you don't get any better suggestions, the world could always use another Unreal Tournament server ;-) Bye for now, Stuart. <snip> OK ... advice time :-) What do you (& others) recommend I put on the server (Bearing in mind I'm using the Pro not Serveer edition)?
