I believe I read about a tool someone is developing to convert .pst files to linux-usable formats. For the life of me I can neither remember the name of this program, nor can I find it in the list archive or by searching the internet. I distinctly recall visiting the project's home page though. I'm interested in something that will convert not only mails, but the whole shebang. Can someone help me out here? TIA and Happy New Year! Corvin -- Corvin Russell <corvinr@sympatico.ca>

Hi Corvin, Happy new year to you and all the others; try this question on the evolution list, they have been discussing this issue already. I think it works with a temporary IMAP server, but don't have an exact idea - check it out there. Cheers ... Hi Wolfi, Thanks, I will look there, though I am assuming this only works to convert mails, which were always convertible by a cumbersome process using Outlook Express and Eudora, and which I've already done. Now I want to get at my very large contact list, locked up in the Outlook pst file for the last 18 months, and don't know how to do it... I'll keep looking. I remember distinctly that someone had developed a tool, but that it was only ready for Outlook 2000, not Outlook 98 (which was forthcoming). I thought I bookmarked it, but apparently not... Hi Corvin: I thought that Kmailcvt (Kmail import tool) would import them but perhaps not. Here is some relevant info on using Evolution: from: http://support.ximian.com/cgi-bin/ximian.cfg/php/enduser/faq.php?p_prod_lvl1... is a partial explanation 3 ) How do I import my Outlook .pst files into Evolution? 12/10/2001 Q.: As my previous email client, I used Microsoft Outlook. How can I import my old email from Outlook? A.: You cannot import these files directly into Evolution because the .pst format is a proprietary format. However, Mozilla Mail on Windows can convert them into the mbox format, which can then be imported by Evolution. Mozilla on Windows can access the .pst Outlook files because it can use the Windows MAPI.DLL library. Using MAPI.DLL is the only way to access .pst files, and it can be used under a Windows operating system. To start importing your Outlook mail to Evolution, run Mozilla Mail on Windows and select the Importer to begin: <snip> -- Cheers, Jonathan
Hi, and happy new year for all! Go in K main menu (KDE), choose "utilities" and "import mail in Kmail". It works fine! I've used it with SuSE 6.4, when saying "good bye for ever" to Bill, and it's really easy to use; Windows is not an OS! It's only a (bad and costly) joke!
