Also, try
ps -ef | grep netscape
There might be an old netscape proc out there hanging.

Try using lsof or fuser to see what has hold of the file/dir.

Date: Monday, January 15, 2001 6:57 pm Subject: [SLE] STRANGE Netscape behavior. I decided to do a clean install on my workstation at work. All went well, including the Lexmark Z52 driver, except for Netscape! It comes up INSISTING that there's a lock file in the .netscape dir., and there ISN'T. Of course, this renders Netscape useless. Anyone know how to fix this....version 4.76, in case it makes any difference.
Thanks!
Fred
