Jeffrey I do appreciate the help and I was not trying to be smart. I am at work so I dont have the "exact" output at the present moment. I will post the output you requested as soon as I can. The router is doing NAT and is also the DHCP server. I have not checked /var/log/messages yet, but I will post this information as well. just a side note: I installed 7.3 pro on another computer at home, and was able to connect to the router without much difficulty...until the hard drive crashed, Anyway I noticed that when I set that machine up I was able to get an IP address from the router and ifconfig listed both IPv4 and IPv6 addresses? __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? You also might want to check which dhcp client you are using. I have had a similar problem and solved it by changing the dhcp client to dhcpcd rather than dhclient(I think, might be the other way around). Just a thought
