[opensuse] unable to install SLES 9SP4 getting please make sure cd number 1 is in your drive
Hi Friends, I downloaded SLES 9SP4 and trying to install it on the Xeon server but the problem I am facing is this that I am able to boot through the cd but when the installation starts it says "please make sure that cd number 1 in your drive". Before burning the cd's I checked their md5sum and md5sums were correct. Now I am wondering why I am getting this error and what should I do to remove this. Moreover I tried to download SLES 9SP3 but the download does not starts and it shows below error Error: we are unable to complete the download at this time. Please try submitting your download request again or try again later You do not have the correct privileges to download the file. I am stuck and don't know how to install SLES 9SP4 Regards Ankus -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Yes it does. You boot from SP4 CD1 to get the install started, then you insert CD1 from SLES9 original version to load additional data When it wants a service pack cd it will say so (please insert CD2 from Service Pack 4) SLES10 SP is an overlay, where you don't need the original version, but SLES9 SPs only contain the updated packages, so you still need the old CDs Anders -- Madness takes its toll -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

There may be a misunderstanding about the CD numbering e.g. whether the first CD is called the base CD or cd1. At any rate, isn't the opensuse list an odd place to seek help, when Novell offers full installation support for people trying SLES? Since paid support is included in the price of SLES, and the paid support people are MUCH more knowledgeable about SLES than the typical openSuSE user, why don't you refer this question to SLES support?

You can also download it for testing without paying. I don't suppose you get free support in that case, no? - -- Cheers, Carlos E. AFAIK you do get free support for SLED/SLES during the evaluation period. Joe -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
