Hey Group; Can anyone think of a reason that various desktop icons would fail to work. Yet in a xterm/konsole the same program works like a charm. I have even remove the icon from the desktop and my home .kde. So bacially reinstalled and the still fail to work from a clicked on icon. The two icons are ones I setup and used to work. Again from a xterm they work. Check the icon properties, to make sure they're OK.

What do you mean by "fail to work?" Is it that the icons do not display properly, or that when (double-) clicked the proper action does not ensue? If it's the former, then you probably fell victim to the bad set of updates from the auxiliary release area. The problem has been rectified, so if you update your packages again (and don't forget to refresh the sources first), the symptom will resolve itself. You'll have to restart your desktop environment (log out and back in). If it's the latter, then I don't know what's wrong.

I don't know what it means for an icon to "work from xterm," since terminals are not GUIs, they're CLIs.
