YAST install from local directory no longer works
SuSE 9.0, KDE 3.2, default 2.4 kernel. If I enable a local directory install source, and I then choose either "Install and Remove Software" or "System Update", the "reading package information" screen appears, and after about 10 seconds it closes. And that's it. Yast won't go any further. However, online update still works just fine. But I can't install anything from a directory , or even my SuSE DVD. If I disable the local directory install source, then Yast will install from the DVD, etc. I also noticed that when I click on an rpm in Konqueror, I get an error message saying: "There appears to be a configuration error. you have associated Konqueror with applications/x-rpm, but it can't handle this file type." It used to ask if I wanted to install it with YAST......... The only change I have made recently is that a couple of days ago I updated X via YAST. But everything seemed to work just fine. Anyone have a solution for this? Thanks, Mike ------------------------------- Cleary_Mike@emc.com ------------------------------- A wink is as good as a nod to a blind horse.
Setup an ftp server locally and use it as a ftp install source... This might work... (I actually use this within my LAN). Daniel Cleary_Mike@emc.com wrote:
