I am happy that there is a choice of distributions and want it to continue. That is why I sell both Caldera OpenLinux and Suse, they are both great products but each has different strengths so you would be poorer if you had to make an arbitrary choice between them.
I tried as my first Distro Caldera's Open Linux Base, I gota say I was very displeased with the product. I noticed it has broken bash terms, as in no color. No Pico for another thing, yes as a person just getting into Linux, I was very displeased. I see they sell a "hyped" up Full version for like 500 bucks? Are they crazy? LINUX should be free, I don't care if they included Whatever, all thier stuff on the list can be gotten free practicly. SuSE is awesome, tho here in the US no one suggests getting the SuSE distro on a daily bases, I do see people saying I got Red Hat 5.0 and it is giveing me (insert problem here). I Do and have suggested SuSE or Debian to my freinds and people who ask me, what Linux Distro to install. I am looking forward to SuSE 6.? with glibc6 GNOME project and various other projects out there. And various games that are "not just ported" but fully for Linux in the future. With Xfree working on 3d for the boards they have 2d for, 3dfx Open GL and glide, Mesa (when they get a full working code of it) Nothing will stop Linux from taking away some the attention corupted direct X and never ending long winded sales pitches to buy this new version of this OS it will work even better at letting you re-install it from scratch 20times a year just to get rid of problems. MS.OS.USER> Did you just Nuke me? Linux User> What on earth would I need a nuke for, your OS nukes itself on a daily basis. I see a total new war when MS closes its 98 and trys to PUSH NT 4.0 with a (UNIX) base, LAUGH. Even they see the Light. + they will charge just as much if not more for THIER version of UNIX(NT4.0) wich of course will include thier OWN version of Java from SUN Mircosystems. And of course it wont work with normal UNIX software. -- Steven Udell Wayfarers hettar@teleport.com for truth love sudell@teleport.com and courage <A HREF="http://www.teleport.com/~hettar"><A HREF="http://www.teleport.com/~hettar</A">http://www.teleport.com/~hettar -- To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e
