Hi all... My wife's 386 just bit the dust. So I put her on one of my 486s dual-booting Dos & SuSE 7.2. Now the question is how do I slow down the keyboard under linux? My wife has problems with her fingers and can not type very fast. Today the first time we were on Linux together (I was teaching her) every time she touched a button it gave 3 or 4 letters. She really wants to learn Linux, but I have got to slow it down. BTW I need the command line program. She does not use X (or M$ either) windows. Just a thought... She uses WP 4.2 under Dos (has used it since 1987). Is there a command line word processer for Linux that uses WP commands. All I've seen are ones based on Word Star. ( It would be great if someone would port WP 4.2 to Linux.) Jim, Have you taken a look at WordPerfect 8 for Linux? Even though it is more graphical than your wife's 4.2, it still uses the same keystrokes for general use, plus is more programmable to add even more. Might be the answer you are looking for as well as bringing her more up to date in the gui part of programs. For the keyboard, check your settings for the keyboard in your Control Center for KDE. If that doesn't provide a remedy for it, then drop down to init 3 and run sax2 for keyboard settings as well. Patrick --- KMail v1.4.3 --- SuSE Linux Pro v8.0 --- Registered Linux User #225206

check /etc/rc.config for the lines try with the combo she is happy # # keyboard repeat rate (2.0 - 30.0) # keyboard delay time in ms (250, 500, 750, 1000) # (If you want "kbdrate" to be executed, you have to set both of them.) # KBD_RATE="" KBD_DELAY="" -- Togan Muftuoglu Unofficial SuSE FAQ Maintainer http://dinamizm.ath.cx
