Validation Check Failed
Why is the YaST2 updater giving me the following error when I check for updates? Should I use it anywise despite this error? OpenSuSE 15.3 x64 KDE/Plasma
Validation Check Failed
File repomd.xml from repository teams
https://packages.microsoft.com/yumrepos/ms-teams
is signed with the following GnuPG key, but the integrity check failed:
ID: EB3E94ADBE1229CF
Fingerprint: BC52 8686 B50D 79E3 39D3 721C EB3E 94AD BE12 29CF
Name: Microsoft (Release signing) <gpgsecurity@microsoft.com>
Created: 10/28/2015
Expires: Never
The file has been changed, either by accident or by an attacker,
since the repository creator signed it. Using it is a big risk
for the integrity and security of your system.
Use it anyway?

This is a third party repository not operated by SUSE or openSUSE. The operator of this third party repository (Microsoft) seems to have pushed faulty metadata. It's recommended not to trust it. On 9/20/22 23:51, Marc Chamberlin wrote:

Probably as a consequence of - as I heard on a Linux podcast the other day - MS deciding to abandon Teams for Linux, and suggesting Linux users will have go via a browser method instead. Standard MS fare. gumb

Signature on Microsoft's repository is wrong. If you are concerned, report to Microsoft, there is nothing we can do about it. https://forums.opensuse.org/showthread.php/575719-Signature-verification-fai...

I was referring to the implication that Microsoft deliberately provided the incorrect signature on repository metadata (and this also before the cut over date according to the link you provided).

Validation check failure is not a consequence of that.
