[opensuse] XFCE on Leap 42.2
My experience and others of KDE5 or Plasma on Leap 42.2 is numerous problems with the desktop. I see fragments trailing the mouse cursor. Is anyone using XFCE on Leap 42.2? Are you having problems with the DE? TIA, Jeffrey -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

I do use it and I do not have (bigger) issues. Actually no obvious visible issues at all. The only piece I replaced is xfce4-terminal to a more recent version because the original one had an issue which was quite annoying to me but actually cannot remember what it was ;-) Wolfgang -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

If you are seeing artifacts on Plasma you will probably see them on XFCE as well. Because on all the machines I have Plasma/KDE5 is perfectly behaved, and I have different video chipsets in each of them. There's nothing that can be attributed to KDE going on, its almost always your video drivers that need attention. XFCE is NOT any lighter weight than Plasma/KDE5. It loads up using slightly less memory, but by the time you launch your working set XFCE becomes somewhat more of a memory hog. The good news for you is that KDE and XFCE can be installed on the same machine and you can select which one you want at login, so other than a little disk space you have very little to lose by adding it. -- After all is said and done, more is said than done. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

running XFCE4 on 42.1 and 42.3 build 0243 with no problems 42.2 shouldn't be more complicated. Karl -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

No, no problems. Perhaps minor issues. -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. (from 42.2 x86_64 "Malachite" (Minas Tirith))

That's not a desktop issue, that is a hardware/driver/config issue. -- David C. Rankin, J.D.,P.E. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
