Re: [SLE] Dial-on-demand
Change wvdial.conf to increase the idle time to disconnect.
--- Thomas Bishop
Hello, Anyone have any tricks to shave off the time needed to make a connection using WVdial.dod? I have two windows boxes connecting through my SuSE box as the gateway/firewall. Most of the time they must refresh their pages to get up and running as it takes so long for my modem to make a connection with my ISP. It all works, but there seem to be redundant files, ie: wvdial.conf and wvdial.conf.dist, not to mention all the stuff in /etc/ppp. What really needs editing? Thanks. -- TRBishop tb64710@ltec.net RLU # 12043 SuSE 7.0 Pro KDE2

I think you may have misunderstood me. The problem is this: Say, windows machine #1 initiates a connection with IE5, by the time my modem goes through all its machinations, the page being looked for has to be refreshed (reloaded) and then it comes up no problem. In all fairness, this also happens with my SuSE box, so I don't think it is a windows problem. I need to goose my modem into making a connection more quickly. I do want it to disconnect quickly, however. I have it set for two minutes now, which is fine for just getting email, etc. Thanks, hope I was more clear, this time. ;-) -- TRBishop tb64710@ltec.net RLU # 12043 SuSE 7.0 Pro KDE2 -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/support/faq
