[opensuse] Problem with activities on KDE4.4 / OS11.3
Hi, Out of curiosity I tried to change the activity of my Desktop from "Desktop" to "Search and Launch". It worked, I enjoyed the menu for a while and then decided to go back to my previous settings. The problem is that with the "Search and Launch" activity the cashew in the top right corner is gone and right clicking on the desktop does nothing. How do I change the activity back to "desktop"? Right click on the background of SaL and select "Configure Search and Launch" - that brings up the dialog where you can change the activity. Right clicking on the background does not do anything (no context menu appears). ~/jc -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Thanks,
I'm on 4.6 now and, iirc, there was some slight shuffling of location/names between 4.5 and now. In Configure Desktop (systemsettings) -> Workspace Behavior -> Workspace and you will see the "Workspace Type". I think this should allow you to change it back. The top of the settings page should be titled something like "Global options for the Plasma Workspace", or some such. It might be located slightly somewhere else in 4.5.5 than my 4.6 so, if it is just hunt it down. -Mike -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Thanks Mike. I am on 4.4.4. This is what I got after installing 11.3. In the workspace dialog there are only 2 options: "Form Factor" and "Dashboard". None of them allow for a change of activity unfortunately. The implementation of activities in 4.4 seems to be half baked at best. I hope it is better in 4.6. /~jc -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

yes, it's getting progressively better in 4.5, 4.6. i'd say 65% baked, on 4.6 from KDE:Distro:Factory. there's still no shortcuts to place application windows on different activities, and no way to automate the process. the only way to move things is manually, via right-click on the title, or <alt + F3>. i find that tiring and am waiting for some more baking before i really use that in my workflow. -- phani. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
