Hi, I wish to use my SuSE V7.1 box with bind8 to get DNS info from my ISP's nameservers on 158.152.1.43 and 158.152.1.58 and supply my LAN on 192.168.1.0/24. What;s the simplest way of doing this. TIA Andy

I have a close configuration, and decided not to run bind locally: no
dns request is needed for the lan, and if my internet link is up, my
isp's dns server is avail whatsoever.
I havent seen any drawback in this scheme (up for 3 year), but one:
sometimes apps making dns requests, that trigger open my isdn line.

if you have bind8 installed, just start it up. the default configuration and files are enough to handle outgoing requests without accessing your ISP's dns servers. then setup your lan to use the ip of the suse box for their dns server. the good thing about this is the dns server will cache dns queries.
