Sound has constant screech through speaker

Mates, As I try and sort out the small 'challenges' with the new 9.2 install, I am at the point of trying to cure the annoying screech through the speakers. (I have just turned them off up until now) It is low-level and very annoying. (like constant Morse code) It is either a driver or an apic acpi problem. It happen regardless of whether there is an X session running or not. I'm booting to runlevel 3 and it is still present there. I have tried passing nolapic at boot, but still no joy. It sounds like it is bus/interrupt driven. It disapears briefly when opening files/closing windows, etc. It goes away when you hit 'test sound' in Yast only to return after the sound file is done playing. Yes, the sound does play, but somewhat scratchy) Any thoughts? I'm off to search, RTFM, etc....... The sound card is on-board on the MSI K7N2 Delta -ILSR. The module being loaded is an intel driver (if I recall right) Thanks for any help. -- David C. Rankin, J.D., P.E. Check in alsamixerGUI or kmix or whatever mixer you use and see if maybe the level for whatever recording device (ie microphone or mic on a webcam perhaps) is up too high maybe? It just might be a feedback sound from one of those things. Just my guess, but worth a looksee.
