[opensuse] TeraStation with SUSE
Hi! I would like to get a TeraStation to use in a situation where I only have SUSE computers as clients. The problem is that according to Buffalo web-site as well as all Google results so far, I would need windows to setup the TeraStation. :-( Apparently after it has been setup, it can probably be administered through web-interface and therefore used with SUSE clients. Has anybody here used TeraStation? Does anybody know if it can be setup without windows? -- HG. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

I'm going to assume, by description, you mean the Buffalo Terastation? If so, follow this link below; It is possible. http://www.terastation.org/wiki/Hacking Regards, -- JD. Actually, either the new Pro II or Live which both have much better performance than the original.

Great wealth of information - except that I do not want to hack the thing (this time) :-) I just wanted to know if somebody has used these with linux as all the requirements on Buffalo web-site say that you must have windows or OS X to install the NAS. After that, you can just access it with samba. So I just kind of want to know if the installation can actually be done without some software in windows/OS X? I actually suspect that the software only finds the IP address and creates "mount points" to win / OS X. But then there would not be any need for installation software to be run really (and there would be no problem in setting it up with SUSE once the IP address is known), but I really do not know if that is all (and maybe if all the initializations are not possible to do through the web-interface. So if anybody has any experience... -- HG. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

I found a forum of TS users from there, I'll take the question to there. Thanks anyways. -- HG. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
