I've come across a video and article about ZFS. How does it compare with btrfs? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nlBXXdz0JKA https://arstechnica.com/information-technology/2020/05/zfs-101-understanding... BTW, I'm currently running ZFS on my pfsense firewall.

As the article says: 'Just know up front that in the understated words of OpenZFS developer Matt Ahrens, "it's really complicated."' It's best suited for large systems with multiple disks including at least some (> 1) SSD for cache and at least one spare disk. I think of it as BTRFS on steroids. Plus of course you may need to consider its licensing and Linus' attitude.

I guess that's why it's default on the latest version of pfsense. The computer I run it on has 1 SSD.
No, that's because pfsense uses freebsd which has a much more restricted list of filesystems than linux. Previously favouring UFS, now they've chosen ZFS as a native filesystem. It doesn't have options such as btrfs.

Funny thing, depending on whether I ask the question here or on that YouTube video, I get different answers. The people there seem to prefer ZFS, but here btrfs.

I actually prefer reiser, followed by XFS. I don't like btrfs or zfs.

I used to use Reiser too, but currently EXT4.
