[S.u.S.E. Linux] Installation direct from SuSE's servers
I'm sure I'm asking a tired question, but I've tried to do my homework. The question is: how can one install SuSE packages from the central distribution places? ie. ftp.suse.com Is it necessary to copy the desired rpms to my local machine and then install them, or can I perform a network install (NFS or FTP). I want to do this because I'm over 20 miles away from my SuSE machine and don't have a car you see. :-) I have looked at README.FTP which seems to suggest that I use prepare-ftp, which looks designed to modify the distribution tree. This sounds designed for the user that has the entire distribution on a machine somewhere. I do not have this luxury. YaST seems capable of installing packages from an NFS directory. Is there a publically accessable NFS server I can use to install from? I believe I saw this mentioned on a previous post (deleted of course) but searches in the support database have turned up nothing. A pointer or two would be appreciated. -josh -- To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e
