Samba has supported encrtypted passwords for a while, since V2, I think.
Win95 (retail) & WfWG 3.1/3.11 have plain passwords by default
Win95b (OSR2), Win98 and NT do encrypted passwords by default.
Set Encypt Passwords = yes in smb.conf, or alternatively if you use swat to
configure samba just select the option. I always do things the samba end,
since you only need do it once. Every time you reinstall Win you will have
to re-hack the registry ; )
Set your samba users up with smbpasswd -a <username> and everbody has a
nice, more secure samba login.
