I am using 8.0 and Mozilla 1.6. Each time I try to install java plugins I get the following;> btrol@linux:~> cd /opt/mozilla/lib/plugins
dbtrol@linux:/opt/mozilla/lib/plugins> ln -s /usr/java/j2re1.4.2_03/plugin/i386/ns610/libjavaplugin_oij.so. ln: creating symbolic link `./libjavaplugin_oij.so.' to `/usr/java/j2re1.4.2_03/plugin/i386/ns610/libjavaplugin_oij.so.': Permission denied dbtrol@linux:/opt/mozilla/lib/plugins> Can someone tell me what I am doing wrong. TIA David

There should be a space before the final dot in your command

Try it as root, or as the user who owns the directory. -- Jim Sabatke Hire Me!! - See my resume at http://my.execpc.com/~jsabatke Do not meddle in the affairs of Dragons, for you are crunchy and good with ketchup.
Here are my notes for me to always look back @. Hopefully it will help you too. ####################################################### How To Get JAVA working under Linux SuSE 9.0 (My way) "java -version" to ensure java is loaded then run "set" & look for JAVA_HOME path. Find you way to the ns610-gcc32 folder. In My case it was usr/lib/java/jre/plugin/i386/ns610-gcc32 and take note: now go to /usr/local/mozilla/plugins & remove any Links to JAVA (delete them) now fire off the following command.. ln -s /usr/lib/java/jre/plugin/i386/ns610-gcc32/libjavaplugin_oji.so restart mozilla and click About, Plugins.. You should now see plugin info.. now go to www.spazmataz.net/portal (do you see the live video) if so.. Java's ok! You may need to do this as root. This also works for me and people I help. I Run SuSE9.0 & Mozilla 1.6 so if you dont match my versions you may need to tweak your commands a bit. #######################################################

"java -version" to ensure java is loaded After that part, I found something that works better for me. It is much easier.
In SuSE 9 I found a SuSE script /opt/mozilla/bin/add-plugins.sh. I edited it with kwrite and changed line 13 to PREFIX=/opt/MozillaFirebird and in lines 20 and 21 replace mozilla-bin with MozillaFirebird-bin. Running the script put the plugins into MozillaFirebird. I tried copying it to a PC with SuSE 8.0 and it worked there but only partially. In Mozilla I saw all the plugins except Java. Maybe with a little tampering, it could work in 8.0 too. Has anyone else used this script? Damon Register
