Software to hardware raid migration.
Hi guys, Subject says it all. I have a SUSE 9.2 Pro server, with two IDE discs, configured in a kernel based raid-1. One of the two discs died, the server is now running on one disc. I just purchased an Adaptec SATA Raid controller, with three SATA discs. I know this card works, I have it in another server too. My plan is to make a RAID-5 with the new discs, and move the existing installation onto that. I'm reasonably sure I know what I need to do to make this work - I just need some four-eye policy :-) 1. Set up raid, move data across. 2. Modify fstab to show the correct /dev/sda devices instead of /dev/md 3. Modify boot parameters in grub.conf 4. Include aacraid in /etc/sysconfig/kernel and make a new initrd This should be it. md will moan, of course, but it shouldn't hinder operation. Am I missing anything? Thanks Hans
