Hi Folks, I'm using SuSE 8.1 on a MSI KT4V Board with a VT8235. Everything was fine till I tried the MANTEL-kernel later than k_athlon-2.4.20-18.i586.rpm. Before I was able to use APIC and ACPI enabled and I was happy to have 24IRQ's. Now APIC won't work anymore. Just 15IRQ's. That's not fair :-) To use the newer MANTEL-kernel I have to remove apic from the kernel command line. Any suggestions and info's for me? My kernel command line: root=/dev/hda7 hdc=ide-scsi hdd=ide-scsi max_scsi_luns=1 apic vga=794 init 3 -- Christian Heimanns heimanns@versanet.de ### Pinguine können nicht fliegen - Pinguine stürzen auch nicht ab! ###

Just reinstall the kernel you were happy with. The Mantel kernels are experimental, some go great, some not so good. You should just reinstall your last good kernel, and continue to learn and have fun... :-) -- Joe Morris New Tribes Mission Email Address: Joe_Morris@ntm.org Web Address: http://www.mydestiny.net/~joe_morris Registered Linux user 231871 God said, I AM that I AM. Thank you, but since yesterday mantel released the third or forth release after 2.4.20-18. The newest is 2.4.20-30. So you think it is a bug and will be fixed in a later release? Christian

Christian, Don't know which build you are using, but if it is the -24, it was riddled with bugs! It was not up long because of that. Many on this list complained of it, but it remained on the mirrors long enough for users to get it. The -27 build fixed and corrected many of those problems and worked very nicely for me, but I am using the -30 now. The changelog indicated some nice fixes and additions, so you may want to give it a look. Well, yesterday (10 March 2003), a short time after I've seen the -30 at the SuSE Server it was on my machine. Same problem. That was the reason to post it to the mailing list. Everything was working fine with this board (MSI KT4V-L): Sound, LAN, lmsensors, ACPI and APIC. But now....I'm waiting for the next mantel :-) -- Christian Heimanns heimanns@versanet.de ### Pinguine können nicht fliegen - Pinguine stürzen auch nicht ab! ###

Hello again, since 30 minutes I have the mantel -31 up and running, but I'm still not able to activate APIC to get more than the standart IRQ's. Maybe somebody else have the same problem and some suggestions!? Is there a chance to pass this bugreport to the maintainer of the mantel-kernel? Thanks, -- Christian Heimanns heimanns@versanet.de ### Pinguine können nicht fliegen - Pinguine stürzen auch nicht ab! ###

He may or may not respond because it's a test kernel. I would read the README in the directory that houses the kernel you have installed. It's got specific info on APIC and an email address to send info on problems you might be having. -- Ben Rosenberg ---===---===---===--- mailto:ben@whack.org Tell me what you believe.. Sorry Ben, in this README he talking about ACPI, but I need APIC up and running. O.K. both depend on the other but I will try to contact him in any case. Christian
