If it is an NTFS partition I don't think you can write to it. Someone will correct me if I am wrong I am sure. Cliff

I believe that it will read/write NTFS, but this capability must be added to the kernel, check the site. Linux reads more than 80 file systems. -- Best regards, Gary Today's thought: Chaos, panic, pandemonium - my work here is done.

You need to change the umask to 007 and the group to 'users' if you want all members of the group 'users' to have read, write, and execute permissions, along with user root. If this is an ntfs partition, then it will need to be mounted by the user that needs to access it, with the correct username and password. Hi Alfredo, I cannot try it from here, since I lack access to this WinNT thing... with the smbmount command, you give a username and password. This username *must* be existant on the NT machine. At work, I cannot do this trick with my normal domain user name, but as far as I remember it worked with any local user. See smbmount's man page. NAME smbmount - mount an SMB filesystem
SYNOPSIS smbmount service mountpoint [ -o options ] ... as I remember it works like: mbmount //servernam/sharename /mymountouint -o username=ntuser, password=ntpwd,rw do not keep spaces in the options...
Happy new year to all...
