I need help installing USB 1.1 mouse on Toshiba A60 Laptop.
Hello all ! I'm sorry for writing in this generic list, but the laptop list is in german and I never wrote a text in german for 10 years.. So, I'm trying to install a Targus mini optical USB 1.1 mouse on my toshiba A60 laptop without success. I run SuSE 9.1 and my usb ports are all USB1 and 2. I read on some forums that I coul'd be the problem. However I never found any ways to solve it. For the X config, it should be ok, I added a new mouse using sax2 and it wrote what I expected in the xf86config. But it's the next part of my problem and I'll fix it when I'll get this USB 1.1 ports working. In addition I past the message I recieve when I run #tail -f /var/log/messages and I plug my mouse : Sep 5 21:58:08 bouh kernel: usb 1-3: new low speed USB device using address 4 Sep 5 21:58:08 bouh kernel: usb 1-3: config 1 has an invalid interface number: 1 but max is 0 Sep 5 21:58:08 bouh kernel: usb 1-3: can't read configurations, error -22 Sep 5 21:58:08 bouh kernel: usb 1-3: new low speed USB device using address 5 Sep 5 21:58:08 bouh kernel: usb 1-3: config 1 has an invalid interface number: 1 but max is 0 Sep 5 21:58:08 bouh kernel: usb 1-3: can't read configurations, error -22 So, If you have any clues... Thanks, Nico.
Humm... I idiot... I tryed another mouse (micrsoft optical usb mouse) andit works. So It's only my targus mouse wich is not recognized. Do you know how I can find suitable drivers for it ? Thanks, nico. -- Nicolas.

Hi, If you could be more specific about the mouse model... A bit of googling came up with this: http://www.ussg.iu.edu/hypermail/linux/kernel/0404.1/0019.html I'm not sure if the attached patch is PS/2 related or works with usb mice... Cheers, L
;) the exact model number for this Targus USB mouse is PAUM010 check this page on targus website : http://www.targus.com/UK/product_details.asp?sku=PAUM010E Laur Ivan wrote:

Have you tried the: http://www.francesc.net/blog/francesc_blog/2004/01/09/upgraded_to_261 ? The guy has a patch on his website and it looks like its content is different from my apt-ed SuSE kernel.
Also, if the mouse gets detected, you might want to try IMPS2 instead of PS2 protocol. Cheers, L
