It just took three minutes for my ida1 desktop icon to appear after I plugged my Sony camera into the usb port and turned it on. If I open /media/sda1 in a window before the icon shows up the window is empty. Is this slowness normal for a Sony camera usb connection? Can I do anything to speed this up? Thanks, Jerome

I think that's not the camera problem. I have a Panasonic USB camera and usb mp3 player, I have to wait a minute or so an icon to appear. That's just SuSEplugger creates icons slowly. I asked several times about the way it works, but it seems nobody knows. Alex

That is normal for my system also and I don't have any Sony USB devices. The hotplug system can take some time to fully recognize devices when they are plugged in or unplugged. Hotplug isn't responding as quickly as the 10 seconds I think is an eternity to wait for the icon to appear or the device to be ready. Patience has rewarded me with functioning desktop icons too after 3-5 minutes. Stan
