I'm using hdparm-6.3-9, but my workstation isn't quite 10.1 -

one of the betas or an RC.
OK, I've moved up to 6.3-11 which is 10.1GM.
Doing hdparm /dev/hdc (my CD-burner), I also see the HDIO_GETGEO error. But "hdparm -dx /dev/hdc" works fine.
Do you get any errors from "hdparm -dx /dev/hdx" ?
That appears to re-enable DMA, but I have problems watching a DVD, as if DMA was disabled. I lose DMA when switching DVDs, or putting in a DVD after listening to a CD with Kaffiene. When the machine first starts up, DMA works just fine.
